CI Brasil Program

As a result of many actions among the Federal Government, companies and academic groups, Programa CI Brasil (IC Brazil Program) was created, where its main goal was to develop an ecosystem in microelectronics able to introduce Brazil in the international semiconductors scenario.

This Program was approved on June 15, 2005 by the Information Technology Area Committee (CATI), from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), and it is part of the Microelectronics National Program (PNM Design), which is considered priority in the data processing and national automation areas.

Its importance stands up by a significant increase in the use of semiconductors in many sectors of world economy, making the demand for Integrated Circuits (ICs) a strategic issue for the balance of trade and technological independence of the country.

In order to achieve its goals, CI Brasil established three main actions which are respectively, three strategies. Although they have developed in parallel, these actions work in an integrated way. This way, the designers graduated by the Training Centers (CTs) start working at Design Houses which become able to grant the market demand, supplying the semiconductors ecosystem in Brazil.
